Dragon Nest SEA – Dark Moonlord Guide by AikawaKazu ~!

DarkMLThumbnailEdited

Updated (17 July) Information regarding further insights after we received the Moonlord Buffs can be found here
Hello everybody once again this is AikawaKazu :)
This has been a guide that many have been waiting for mostly because of the greatly hyped Moonlord buffs that showcased a Dark Moonlord in action.
This guide is to help out players who are going to embark on the journey on building an elemental build for classes that uses mostly non-elemental attacks.
This means that if you’re trying to build a Dark build tempest, gladiator, windwalker etc. this can be a decent reference.
Before we get to the guide itself here’s something you will need to be informed first with regards to elemental builds
  • Half-Sugar’s video feature the use of a Dark Manticore Gauntlet (which converts all non-elemental attacks to Dark without -30% deficit). This item doesn’t exist in any Official Dragon Nest versions after KDN, JDN & CDN)
  • You will need a elemental conversion Jade.  (Which can only get via an event known as “Saint Haven Defense” -> Click to check out the guide)
  • You can get Fire/Ice/Light and Dark Elemental Conversion Jade
  • Elemental Conversion Jade cannot convert a elemental attack into another element. It can only convert non-elemental attacks to a specific element (eg. Frost wind from Elemental Lords cannot be changed into Dark Attribute even if you equip a dark elemental conversion jade.
  • Elemental Conversion Jade can only used on a Main Weapon
  • Elemental Conversion Jade will result in a -30% Elemental Deficit to that specific element jade that you’re doing. (Eg. A -30% Dark Attack if you are using the Dark Elemental Conversion Jade)
  • An elemental build takes in consideration that you benefit most from the build while bringing the classes that can increase the elemental attack % that you are using. (Eg. Bringing a Majesty, Abysswalker & Dark Summoner if you’re a Dark Element user)

Why Dark Elemental Moonlord build?
Personally, the reason for going a Dark Build Moonlord was for the sole reason that I can’t afford a full fledged Final Damage Build due to its extremely high cost.
This doesn’t mean that Moonlords who are going Final Damage build cannot go for Dark Build, they still can, but it simply means that it costs much more as they will need to juggle with the balancing of more stats.
While elemental attack doesn’t translate into direct damage increase like FD Builds (Final Damage damage increase is the last co-efficient placed in the calculation of damage), in simple terms, they work very similarly.
This is the reason why I’ve decided to go for a Elemental Build since it is significantly cheaper compared to going for FD build
There’s more longevity in the build since there’s less dependence on 3rd stat FD plates whenever the FD Cap increases with level cap as well.
Buffs and debuffs from a Dark Party Setup such as Majesty, Abysswalker, Dark Summoner & Adepts for example are “free” and can increase your damage output greatly without any direct actual cost in terms of gold/CC/DNP.
In the current status of our skill balancing for DNSEA, dark element or dark attack can be built (via gears) and increased (via buffs and debuffs) more than light attack.
This is why for now, Dark Moonlord Build is preferred over Light.
Other reasons include, that in Lv70 cap, dark resistance is the lowest among all the other elements in nests and raids in general.
Is Light Moonlord still viable and possible to do?
Yes.
Currently there are accessories that give you light attack like the Ancient Totem Set Accessories shown below:
plagueoftheancientotemring
With high grade Light Grade you’re looking at ((5.75×2)+(8.05×2)+ 2.37))= 29.97%
With Titles (Provocateur 6% Light Attack), Cash Costume Rings (Rare =5%, Magic = 4%), and another 8%/8.05% from secondary weapon you’re looking at a grand total of around 48.97% from equipment.
This means an effective 18.97% Light Attack increase after using the Light Elemental Conversion Jade for Solo runs.
Blessing of Azuna from LightFury or Abysswalkers can increase your Light attack by 16% (With Skill accessory). (34.97% Light Attack Increase)
In future once Blessing of Light is reverted back to able to increase light attack for team mates (another 24%) and of course cure relic Light attack increase…
Light Elemental Moonlord builds are thus definitely viable especially in the future.
Here’s a video of a Barbarian (huwei) from greenwood that went Light Elemental via skill rings only instead of Dark for his conversion jade but didn’t use the ancient totem set accessories (He only has 11.18% Light Attack after the -30% reduction)
Note: He has 11..18% Light Attack, 71% DMG Increase via FD and the highlight will be reaching 30million damage gigantic bomber with the help of Priest and Light Fury Blessing of Azuna to beef up his Light Attack to at least over 30%. This allows him to have around 100% DMG Increase with FD and Light Attack Combined.
———————————————————————————————————————————-
Again before we move on, I will need to enlighten you regarding the available Dark Moonlord Builds out there.
In summary, here are the 3 most effective Dark Moonlord Builds with regards to accessories:
  • Twilight Manticore Accessories Set
  • Tough Necklace/Earring with Skill Accessories
  • Tough Necklace/Earring with Desert Dragon Legendary Grade Rings
These are the optimal builds that you should consider. Other builds include forgoing the tough accessories entirely but that will result in extremely low dark attack % after the -30% reduction.
If that’s the case you should simply focus on a MATK/Critical/INT focused build instead.
Looking at this, you can see that without Tough Accessories, it makes it extremely hard for one to be able to build a decent Dark Moonlord.
Unfortunately, Tough Accessories no longer drop and thus the number of drops available depends and vary on your server.
In other words, if you’re unable to find or be able to own a pair of Tough Necklace/Earring (be careful some tough accessories do not have Dark Attack on them, so make sure you look properly) and are not considering to use Twilight Manticore Accessories set, then Dark Build Moonlord might not be viable for you mainly due to the -30% Dark Attack once you use a Dark Elemental Conversion Jade.
We will now first show the ideal case for the highest possible Dark Attack balanced with MATK potentials.
Currently the best Tough Accessories you can get are the Tough Rose Quality Earrings and Necklace.
ToughRoseAccessories
These 2 accessories gives you a whooping 23.02% Dark Attack
DDNLRing
A pair of DDN L grade Rings will give you 16% Dark Attack and 8.32% MATK Increase.
DDN L grade Gauntlet will give you another 8% Dark Attack and 4.31% MATK Increase
With 5% Dark Attack Increase from Overcoming Limits Title and 5% from Rare Cash Costume Rings, we have a grand total of: 57.02% Dark Attack and 12.93% MATK Increase
This meant that after the -30% Dark Attack reduction due to the Jade, we have 27.02% Dark Attack and 12.93% MATK Increase
With just Incarnation of the Dark (20% Dark Attack) Abysswalker, Blessing of Azuna (32% Dark Attack) Bringer, Sadism Pleasure (20% Dark Attack) Dark Summoner and ignoring the other elemental resistance reduction debuffs, you can have a possible total if 99.02% Dark Attack Increase.
Or if you can only find a Abysswalker, you can get a consistent 59.02% Dark Attack Increase and a duration based 79.02% Dark Attack Increase.
Purpose of this sharing is to show you the potential of Dark Build but also the reality behind it where the possible 99.02% Dark Attack Increase requires precise coordination of buff timings with your party members.
With regards to debuffs such as Gravity Ascension EX via the Majesty Class, it requires the target to be immobile as the dark resistance reduction debuff only occurs after the GA EX explodes which is what I mean by precise coordination and on your part as a player to understand these significant details to know where to start casting your own buffs and debuffs such as Provoking Slam, Brave and Cyclone Slash.
Other useful skills that can provide useful debuffs aside from GA EX are Engineer’s Bio-chemical Missile (-15% to all resistance) and Adept’s Ethanol Skill (-16%/-18% to all resistance)
With that let’s move into the specifics with regards to showing some character stats with regards to the 3 builds mentioned above.
Twilight Manticore Set Build
TwilightYearsManticoreSet
Total Dark Attack: 3.96 + 3.20 + 3.20 + 8.05 + 8.05 + 9. 86 = 36.32% Dark Attack
Secondary Weapon = 8% or 8.05% (Depending on Lv60 DDN Lgrade Gauntlet or Lv70 epic)
With Title (Overcoming Limits 5% Dark Attack) and Rare Cash Costume Ring (5%) …
Grand Total Effective Dark Attack: 24.37% Dark Attack (54.37% before -30% Reduction)
Example shown below is using Magic Grade Cash Costume rings and DDN Lgrade Gauntlet which is why there’s a 1.05% Differential
ManticoreAccessoryStats ManticoreAccessoryStats2
I’ve provided 2 screenshots of my character stats if I’ve gone this build.
In comparison to the other 2 builds I’m about to show you, you will see huge difference in terms of Intelligence stat.
The main issue of the Manticore Accessory build is finding Lv40 High/Intermediate Grade Dark Attack Dragon Jades for your Manticore rings.
They are currently non-existent in the Trading house in Greenwood because no one is selling them as they are not really worth sealing to sell at the moment.
You can run Lv40 nests in bid to find the Intermediate Ones, though it will take time.
If not you will need to craft high grade attack Lv40 dragon jades and hope you get the Dark Dragon Jades.
Similarly, getting the intellect jades that you want to place in the Necklace and Earring will also require your own due diligence to farm them.
However if you’re short on budget due to high cost of Tough Accessories, Manticore Accessories Set Build is actually a good budget Dark Build option to go for.
Most importantly, these items can still be farmed as they still currently drop (with jade version).
***Note: this Manticore Set Accessories build is actually extremely good for Majesties especially if you cannot afford tough accessories as they don’t need to use the damage conversion jade for dark attacks hence they can actually get up to  62.42% Dark Attack via another 8.05% dark attack from main weapon.
Tough Accessories with Lv70 Skill Accessories Build
SkillDownRing2typeofrings
As you can see, there are 2 type of skill rings that you can craft that gives you Dark Attack %.
One is a critical-based ring and the other is a Matk-Based ring.
I’ll recommend crafting Moonblade Dance (in preparation for 80 cap since MBD can hit Lv11 with skill ring for exponential dmg increase) and also relieve (for Lv6 Relieve, 15 seconds cooldown PVE)
For players that cannot afford 3rd stat Critical Enhancement Heraldry plates, the critical based ring will definitely aid you to reaching that critical cap.
This is especially important because we will not be able to put a Fatal Dragon Jade (for 17% Critical Increase) since we will be using Dark Attack Dragon Jade on our Secondary Weapon or if you’re using DDN L Grade Gauntlet, be using 4.31% MATK with 8% Dark Attack Potentials.
Below are 2 different character stats showcasing to you when I’m using 2 MATK Based Skill Rings vs 1 MATK Based Skill Ring with 1 Critical Based Skill Ring.
As you can see below, 29.40% Effective Dark Attack is achieved via this build (This is using Tough Sylvie Ana Necklace/Earrings and Magic Grade Cash Costume Rings)
Maximum Potential Dark Attack Increase with Tough Rose Accessories and Rare cash Costume Rings : 34.19% Dark Attack
SkillAccessoriesStats
With 2 MATK Based Skill Ring
SkillAccessoriesWithCritStatRing
With 1 Critical Based Skill Ring, Critical Cap is achieved
SkillAccessoriesWithoutCritStat
With 2 MATK Based Skill Rings
As mentioned above, the maximum potential effective Dark Attack Increase is actually 34.19% and 4.31% MATK Increase (via DDN L Grade Gauntlet).
Notice that my Intelligence stat is significantly (Around 1000 more) higher compared to the Manticore Set build.
If I’ve included 2 Life Vitality Dragon Jade on the Manticore Necklace/Earring, the HP difference wouldn’t be significant so that can’t be used as comparison.
Let’s move on to the last build which is the one that I’m currently using
Tough Accessories with Desert Dragon Legendary Grade MATK Based Rings
This is basically the one that I’ve mentioned above but let’s take a look at the character stats.
DDNLGradeStats
Dark Attack and MATK
DDNLGradeStats2
Critical and Intelligence Stat
As mentioned in the ideal scenario with Tough Rose Accessories, the potential of this build is 27.02% Dark Attack and 12.93% MATK Increase.
Compared to the 2 other builds previously, you can see a significant increase in Intelligence stat (14150 vs 12365 vs 11814)
Obviously this will be the most expensive build out of all of them due to the cost of DDN Lgrade Rings.
Aside from the stats differences as DDN L grade Ring has both VIT, INT and HP increase stats on them… why is this worthwhile when the skill accessory build has a higher dark attack increase? (34.19% vs 27.02%)
Here come’s the importance of the MATK Increase % which is only possible via potential based system DDN Lgrade Rings.
This is especially important due to the upcoming Moonlord Buffs that we are receiving (most likely getting the balanced version) which is the increase of MATK based off our Intelligence stat.
You can notice the 70,000HP difference between the Skill Ring build and DDN Lgrade Rings build as well.
With the upcoming buff where we will have our base MATK affected by our intelligence stat, having 12.93% MATK Increase applied to that increase in MATK via intelligence will make the MATK potentials thus extremely significant.
With the difference in around 2000/3000 Intelligence stat (depends whether you are using the Manticore or Skill Accessories build),  you’re looking at a difference of 1600-2400 MATK which will be affected by the 12.93% MATK Increase potentials.
With Stat increasing buffs coming into play such as Genie from Kali Class, Cocktail from Alchemists, the importance of the 12.93% MATK Increase potentials thus comes into importance compared to the difference of around 7% Dark attack.
Without the buff currently, the difference between the Skill Accessories and DDN LGrade Rings build will be small of around 2000 MATK as you can see between the difference of the 2 MATK range (35,800 vs 37,800)
In fact the difference of 7% Dark attack actually makes the  Skill Accessories build to be slightly better in terms of effective MATK compared to the DDN Lgrade rings before the Moonlord buff is implemented.

As mentioned above, do note that the NM Boots will be changed to DDN Lgrade Boots for the 2 set 318 FD Bonus.
I might also be removing the Side Kick Action Speed plate for Premium Wind Enhancement Heraldry in order to hit my critical cap comfortably.
In case you didn’t click to watch the video featured above earlier, here are some short footage that will give you an idea of the damage you can dish out via Light Fury, Majesty and Adept buffs and debuffs assistance. (Definitely not the full potential)
To summarize what is shown in the video with regards to our bread butter DPS Skill MBD, with 22.22% Dark Attack I’m able to dish out 400,000 Moonblade Dance Damage per slash without any Dark Attack Increase buff (4 million – 6 million damage)
With Dark Attack Increase buff via Blessing of Azuna (54.22% Dark Attack) I can achieve around 500,000 – 600,000 Moonblade Dance Damage per slash (5 million – 9 million damage)
With Dark Attack Increase buff via Blessing of Azuna (54.22% Dark Attack), Adept’s Ice Beam Ice stack, GA EX Debuff, I’m able to hit 1.1 Million Moonblade Dance Damage (11 million – 16.5 million damage)
With the addition of Incarnation of the Dark via Abysswalker, you’re looking at around 1.3 million damage per MBD Slash (13 million – 19.5 million damage)
With the MBD 100% Damage increase buff in future, you’re looking at 26 million – 39 million overall MBD Damage excluding the buff via the changes to ML Lv65 Passive where MATK can be further increased via increased in Intelligence from Cocktail or Genie buff!
Can’t wait for the buffs to arrive to DN SEA!
The final question will be this: Is Dark Build ML better than if I focused on a MATK/Critical/INT stat Based Build?
For solo wise, I will say that MATK/Critical/INT stat based build is definitely superior (Especially if you got 2 +13 DDN L grade Weapons).
With the critical potentials (instead of going 4.31% MATK with 8% Dark Attack) via DDN Lgrade Weapons, it is extremely easy to reach Critical cap which allows you to to get 3rd stat INT/MATK enhancement heraldry plates.
You can also go for moderate Final Damage builds as well which makes you less dependent on Party buffs from specific classes.
However, as mentioned Dark Attack build has that 99.02% Dark Attack increase potential and much more via debuffs. Also Elemental Attack % increase can go above 100%.
There are already Moonlords I know who have achieved that ideal 27.02% Dark Attack and 12.93% MATK Increase (via gears) with close to 100% Final Damage.
Though their critical is only around 70% but with buffs from archers, stat increase from alchemists and kalis via cocktail and genie, the critical cap should be fine in raid
Imagine their damage potential!!!
So if you’re aiming for that epitome of maximized damage potential, then Dark Moonlord will be the way to go for now (until Blessing of Light is reverted once the inquisitor buffs are here).
With that this brings us to the end of the Dark Element Moonlord Guide!
