Hello everybody once again this is AikawaKazu bringing you a simple guide to 16-man Saint Haven Defense.
First and foremost, for all the basic information you can refer to the microsite put up by cherrycredits here
What is mentioned there will be the entry level requirements, dates, timing sand duration for the event.
Yes 16-man Saint Haven Defense is an event with a fixed duration. For Dragon Nest SEA, our first season is between 17th June 2014 to 14 July 2014
Your stats and damage will be akin to PVP Compensation ON, so you don’t need good gears to be able to take part in the saint haven defense.
Also when you are dead, your allies can resurrect you for FREE without the consumption of “red” or “blue” hearts.
In other words, Saint Haven Defence is basically for you to complete. There is also a 15mins cooldown timer that will start upon a completion of 1 run. You will need to wait for 15mins between each run.
This guide will serve to tell you the following:
- Purpose of Saint Haven Defense (Items you can exchange for that are of significance)
- Things to note when facing the Basilisk
- Others
Purpose of Saint Haven Defense
Aside from the fun of having to fight an enormous boss in a large area alongside 16 other players (which results in lag and disconnection issues to many), the reason why so many are running Saint Haven Defense is usually for the following reasons:
- Getting the Nest Skill Heraldry for the Basilisk
- Using Master’s Silver Coins to exchange for the Basilisk Pet
- Using Master’s Silver Coins to exchange for the Elemental Conversion Jades
As you can see you will need 88, 104, 122 and 144 coins respectively for exchange for the Lv40, 50, 60 and 70 elemental conversion jades.
Please note that there are other elements as well aside from dark show here. (Fire, Ice and Light Conversion Jades are also available)
You can also use the coins to exchange for Skill Jade Pouches but there isn’t any pouch for Lv70 skill jades so I will strongly advise against using your coins to exchange for skill jade pouches.
Entering 16-Man Saint Haven Defense
Please note that Saint Haven Defense is only available in the following timings and days during the event period (17th June – 14 July 2014)
Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday only
Weekday timings: 2000hrs – 2200hrs
Weekend timings: 1300hrs – 1400hrs, 2000hrs – 2200hrs
There will be system message on screen prompting players when the event is about to start so you shouldn’t miss it unless you weren’t online then.
Simply head to any of the East/West/South Gates in New Saint Haven and select on the “Saint Haven Defence” option.
After which simply click on enter.
During the timing window where the event is open for joining, you will most likely receive a M:148 error message which means that a “room”/”server” isn’t ready/available for joining yet.
What I usually do will be to change channels/gates/going to character selection and back when facing such an error message.
After a successfully entry, you will be brought to a holding area shown below
After a short period of waiting time, you will be sent forth to battle the Basilisk!
Basilisks Basic Attacks
- AOE Knock back spin (Unavoidable mechanic, does no damage)
- Basic Charging Attack (Decent amount of damage but usually will not cause death if you get caught only midway of the charge)
- Basilisk Bombs (Area affected will be marked with a red circle, avoid stepping in those areas – around 28,000 – 30,000 damage)
- Basilisk Sand Breath (KO mechanic. If you’re caught you’re most likely dead) – Note: At around 3.0x HP bar and below, rotating sand breath can occur
- Digging into the ground and re-appearance (If you’re caught in the Basilisk’s movement range and re-appearance range, will take around 20,000 damage per hit)
After which it will re-appear with its belly facing up!
You will need to jump on the legs or the belly to avoid a deadly AOE Explosion around the entire area. Getting caught means that you’re definitely dead!
If you managed to survive, do look out for players who needs resurrecting and revive them as soon as possible!
If you happen to die here’s what you will see!
You then receive your first batch of rewards with the depletion of 1HP Bar!
With every HP bar depletion you will receive 1 Master’s Silver Coin.
This meant that every successful completion of Saint Haven Defense will give you 4 Master’s Silver Coins.
Basilisks Advanced Attacks (These attacks occur from 4.0x HP and below)
- Charge and fall with Tail Up (Can’t think of nice names for the Basilisk’s attacks haha)
- At 4.0x HP Bar and below, the Basilisk can perform the Sushi Roll xD! (Boss will roll left/right and then roll back to where he started rolling from)
- At 3.0x HP Bar and below, as mentioned above, the Basilisk Sand Breath can rotate, always stay at the sides and back of the basilisk to avoid getting hit which will likely cause your death
- At 3.0x HP Bar and below, Basilisk will raise his Tail high into the air. A system message that tells you to look at his back to avoid this attack will be shown.
Other things to note:
- If you ran out of MP, there will be “Aggressive Hounds” that spawn around the corners of the map. Kill them and they will drop HP/MP recovery items!
- In a 1 Hour period timing (On Saturday/Sunday afternoon window), you can do around 2/3 Saint Haven Defense (8-12 Coins) – highly dependent on how long you take to clear
- In a 2 Hour period timing (On the rest of the other timing windows), you can do at least 5/6 Saint Haven Defense (20-24 Coins) -highly dependent on how long you take to clear
- This meant that you get 144 coins for a Lv70 elemental conversion jade you will need participate in at least 1 week (Wed, Fri, Sat/Sun) + 1 more 2 hour period to get 144 coins, most will take around 2 weeks to get enough coins.
- This meant that 1 character can probably only get around 2 elemental conversion jades (Lv70) within the 4 week period.
- Elemental Conversion Jades work in Compensation ON PVP.
You can simply run with another character that is at least Lv40 (while waiting for the previous 15mins to finish on your first) so that you can have a total of 4 elemental conversion jades then transfer between the 2 characters
With that this brings us to the end of this simple guide and hope it was helpful
More will be elaborated on the Dark Moonlord path that I will be striding into once I’ve enough coins to exchange for the Lv70 conversion jade.
